Troubleshooting

I completed a puzzle, but the “Solved” banner is missing from the selection page. Where did it go?

Don’t worry, your hard work hasn’t necessarily been lost! The “Solved” banner typically disappears due to a break in how your browser saves your progress. Here are the most common reasons why this happens and how to fix it:

  • Check Your Login Status: If you weren’t logged into your account when you finished the puzzle, your progress may have been saved locally to your browser instead of our servers. Ensure you are signed in so your achievements stay synced across all devices.
  • Incognito or Private Mode: If you solved the puzzle in a private window, your browser “forgets” everything once the tab is closed. To keep your banners, make sure to play in a standard browsing session.
  • Cache & Cookies: If you recently cleared your browser data, the “Solved” status might have been wiped out. Conversely, if the page is just acting glitchy, a quick Hard Refresh (Ctrl + F5 or Cmd + Shift + R) usually coaxes the banner back into view.
  • Ad-Blockers & Extensions: Occasionally, aggressive browser extensions can mistake our banners for pop-up ads. Try temporarily disabling your ad-blocker for this site to see if the banner reappears.
Puzzles don’t open when I click on them. I get blank square/red cross/crossed circle instead of a puzzle.

First of all, don’t worry — you should be able to fix this issue within a minute or two with just a few mouse clicks.

Which browser do you use for opening our site?

I no longer can select the number of pieces I’d like in a puzzle. Did you change something?

Nope, the feature’s still there, it just stopped working on your computer. In most cases it takes seconds to restore this feature following the steps below:

  1. Open the same page again and press Ctrl+F5 (Command+Shift+R on a Mac) keys on the keyboard. This will force refresh the site and, nine times out of ten, this is enough to bring the cutout selection menu back to normal.
  2. If the problem persists please try to clear your browser’s cache by following these instructions to see if it eliminates the problem.
  3. If the problem’s still there the most probable reason for the issue is JavaScript disabled in your browser. Please refer to this guide to get it re-enabled.
I no longer have this clicking sound when pieces connect. How do I bring it back?

Click the Mute button in the puzzle controls (the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of the puzzle board) to toggle game sounds on or off.

Cool Features

I need larger pieces and more space to sort it out.

Try one of the coolest features of TheJigsawPuzzles.com: full screen mode! Click the full screen button in the lower-right corner (the one with four arrows) and the puzzle board will be enlarged to the whole screen. Larger and nicer pieces, more space, more fun!

Click the button again or press the ESC key to return to the windowed mode.

And here’s one more helpful feature: use the zoom buttons in the upper-left corner to zoom in/out on the board — this will provide more space outside the field to sort puzzle pieces.

I hate having to separate piece piles piece-by-piece. Is there a tool to move many pieces at once?

Of course there is! Click and drag the mouse on empty space of the board. A blue selection frame appears over pieces. Select all the pieces you want to move with this frame, then move them all at once.

You can also use the Pull button in the puzzle controls to move all spare pieces to the sides of the board instantly.

I’d like a choice of a few different background colors for a puzzle.

We’ve prepared a variety of backgrounds with different colors and patterns. While playing a puzzle, look for the background button in the puzzle controls to cycle through different options.

I’d like to be able to see the picture of the puzzle I’m working on while I am working on it.

Click the Ghost button in the puzzle controls — this will show a semi-transparent preview of the completed puzzle overlaid on the board, helping you see where pieces go.

How do I..?

100 piece puzzles are child’s play. I need more puzzles cut to 200 pieces. Wait, how about 300?

No problem — you choose the number and shape of pieces in just any puzzle. From 20 to 500 pieces, play at any difficulty you want. Here’s how:

Instead of clicking a puzzle thumbnail, move your mouse over it. A menu should appear at the upper-right corner of the thumbnail. Move your mouse over the desired piece shape (Classic, Elegant, Mosaic, Square), then click the number of pieces you want and wait a couple of seconds — the puzzle loads with your chosen cut.

How do I rotate pieces to fit into the puzzle?

There are no puzzles with rotating pieces on the site yet; all pieces are already aligned in the right direction. But we’re thinking of adding a rotation feature in some future update.

How do I turn off this clicking sound when pieces connect?

Click the Mute button (the speaker icon) in the puzzle controls to mute or unmute game sounds.

How do I change the language of the website?

You can switch the language at any time using the language selector at the bottom of the main page.

  1. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
  2. Look for the row of flag icons.
  3. The page will reload right away in the selected language.

Your choice is saved via browser cookies, so it should stay the same on future visits (on the same browser/device).

My Puzzles

I have some great pics I’d like to turn into puzzles.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3, and you’ll even have your personal (private) album on the site and be able to share your puzzles with friends or family.

1. First, you need an account on the site. Signing up is (of course) free and only takes a minute. Click the “Register” link in the upper-right corner of any page, choose a username and password and enter your details. Double-check your email — we’ll send an account activation message to this address.

2. Check your email — you should now have a message containing an account activation link. Click that link to activate your account. Visit the site again and sign in.

3. You’re all set! There’s a “Make a Puzzle” button in the navigation bar — click it and choose a pic (or several) to be turned into puzzles. Once your pic is uploaded, you can play it, share it, and edit or delete it. Congratulations on your first creation!

Remember: you can always find all the puzzles you made under the link “My Puzzles” in every page’s header.

Why do I need to create an account on your site?

Actually, you don’t have to. Playing puzzles here is not only free, but it also won’t bother you with forms and passwords. You will only want to create your account when you want some personal stuff on TheJigsawPuzzles.com: to make puzzles from your own pics (and store them in your personal album), or to mark completed puzzles.

Signing up for an account only takes a minute and is absolutely free. And we certainly will never share your personal information (such as your email address) with any third parties.

I’ve made some nice puzzles out of my pics. How do I share it with everyone on the site?

At this time, user-created puzzles are private to your own album. You may share a link for the puzzle you created (or the whole “My Puzzles” album) with your friends and family via email or social media.
